PRIVATE EVENT SPACE
Los Angeles, CA
Client: Local Pie LLC
Location: Palms, Los Angeles, CA
Scope: 2,500 sf Private Event Space with Outdoor Dining
Role: Architect
This private event space exemplifies NCA Studio's commitment to adaptive reuse and placemaking, transforming a former laundromat into a refined destination designed specifically for gathering. The 2,500-square-foot space centers around a sculptural curved ceiling that guides guests inward, creating natural flow and intimacy—essential qualities for meaningful events and celebrations.

Warmth permeates every design decision. A soft ambient glow emanates from the custom bar and banquette seating, while carefully selected materials—brass, marble, wood, and cork—create sophisticated yet approachable Southern California hospitality. The palette feels both elevated and welcoming, establishing a sense of place that supports diverse gatherings from casual to formal.
We integrated sustainability as a core design principle rather than an afterthought. Low-VOC materials ensure healthy indoor air quality, while natural ventilation, an operable skylight, and thoughtfully designed entry system invite daylight and fresh air throughout. Biophilic elements—including natural wood and organic curves—create a calming environment that enhances both mood and comfort for guests.
This project demonstrates our belief that beautiful, sustainable design elevates unexpected spaces into memorable places. By honoring the building's history while reimagining its purpose, we created an environment where people naturally want to gather—where architecture quietly supports what matters most: connection, celebration, and the warmth of being together in a space designed with intention and care.
